Comments in Blogger are Driving Me Crazy!

OK, now I really feel like that old man from a couple posts ago.

I am trying to respond to a comment left on my post this morning but I am realizing that email addresses are not captured and forwarded to me when someone leaves a comment on this blog service.

So what have I done, I have responded to my reader's comment in my own post under his comment. This sucks and is totally ineffective. Why? As a reader, you aren't going to come back and continually check out the post to see if I have responded to your comment. Email addresses should be captured and given to the site admin so that they can respond.

An even better system would be for me to respond directly to the comment left on a post in a discussion forum format where it is clear that I am responding to the reader's comments, then an automatic email should be sent to the commenter with the content of my response notifying him/her of the response. That way for the benefit of others browsing to the site, it is clear as to further discussion of the post.

Am I wrong? Has anyone found a workaround?
